The Emergency Management & Business Continuity Specialist plays a key role in strengthening the health systems resilience and readiness. This position supports the development implementation and continuous improvement of a comprehensive allhazards emergency management program designed to guide the organizations response during crises and disruptive events. The Specialist also contributes to a robust business continuity program by conducting business impact analyses performing risk assessments of essential functions and critical information systems and helping create and maintain plans that ensure continuity of operations. This role ensures the health system is prepared coordinated and capable of sustaining essential services under any conditions.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements by maintaining up to date documentation supporting survey readiness activities and aligning Emergency Management and Business Continuity programs with standards set by The Joint Commission CMS OSHA and other governing bodies.
- Support the daily operation development and implementation of the Emergency Management & Business Continuity programs.
- Coordinate and document emergency exercises (tabletop functional full scale and disaster recovery drills).
- Support systemwide Hazard Vulnerability Analysis Business Impact Analyses and risk assessments for critical functions and systems.
- Assist in creating updating and maintaining departmental and system wide Business Continuity and Continuity of Operations (COOP) plans including the strategies needed to restore critical services after a disruption.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system resilience redundancy and recovery objectives.
- Provide debriefings and develop After Action Reports (AARs) and Improvement Plans.
- Track corrective actions and improvement plan items from exercises and real events.
- Support Hospital Incident Command readiness structure and role assignments.
- Collaborate with IT on Disaster Recovery (DR) testing cyber incident planning and critical system continuity.
- Assist with crisis communication planning in coordination with Corporate Communications and Human Resources.
- Support workforce continuity (staffing models remote work readiness cross coverage strategies).
- Assess vendor and supply chain continuity and support alternate sourcing strategies.
- Participate in health system Emergency Management committees and others as assigned.
- Participate in community and regional Emergency Management meetings coalitions and trainings.
- Provide preparedness education and training to staff and leaders.
- Support emergency equipment and resource readiness including emergency response tools.
- Must be able to perform the professional clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited College or University in Nursing Disaster Recovery Incident Response Emergency Preparedness Business/Organizational Leadership Occupational Safety Management or related field.
Preferred Education and Experience
- 5 or more years in healthcare emergency management or business continuity.
- 1 or more years Experience collaborating with external partners such as EMS fire police public health and regional healthcare coalitions.

Knowledge Requirements
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS 100 IS 200 IS 700 and IS 800 training within 120 days of hire. Completes IS 300 and 400 within the timeline set by supervisor.
- Awareness of Homeland Security Exercise & Evaluation Program (HSEEP) after action process
- Familiarity with Joint Commission Emergency Management standards CMS EP Rule OSHA requirements and other relevant regulations.
- Experience with crisis communications emergency notification tools or supporting communication workflows during incidents.
- Strong understanding of healthcare operational workflows (clinical and support services) and their dependencies.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships influence without authority communicate clearly and work effectively in complex environments.
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies including Hazard Vulnerability Analyses (HVAs) resilience measurement approaches and processes for tracking and monitoring improvement plan actions.
