About the District

Springfield Public Schools is located in Springfield Oregon in the heart of the Willamette Valley and serves 185 square miles of the city of Springfield and East/Central Lane County. We are directly to the East of Eugene where the University of Oregon is located. We currently have approximately 8400 students in our kindergarten through grade 12 school district. Position Summary

This position assists District staff students and families in using technology used for in-person and comprehensive distance learning addition this position supports a high volume of staff and student devices (1:1 device to student ratio) including set-up maintenance and repair in order to meet District objectives. This position works 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Essential Functions

Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains and assists the technology support program (computers laptops projectors document cameras network power hardware software upgrades phones etc.).
  • Upgrades and installs computer hardware instructional software and programs on all local computers.
  • Installs troubleshoots maintains electronic equipment computers and network problems and makes repairs and or finds solutions to technology issues.
  • Researches solutions and troubleshoots problems for all technology issues.
  • Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all educational technology resources and materials.
  • Maintains and makes repairs to all computers phones and AV equipment as necessary locally or using Enterprise Solutions remotely.
  • Maintains inventory of all technology purchased by the District and keeps detailed records of assigned devices.
  • Maintain accurate DNS records and DHCP assignments.
  • Assigning and maintaining phone extensions and the VOIP phone system.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Extron projection systems including wiring.
  • Assists with the maintenance of Google Drive and Google web applications wireless devices routers etc.
  • Assists with data security and access to computer systems.
  • Arranges and supports recycling of outdated technology.
  • Assists in maintaining system availability by working with appropriate support personnel to correct network and server problems.
  • Maintains available parts and materials for equipment repair and service.
  • Coordinates network software upgrades with minimum interruption of service to the end users.
  • Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records and inquires.
  • Serve as the central communications point between the District and software vendors.
  • Monitor hardware and software system performance.
  • Load computer software on client workstations in accordance with department standards.
  • Assist Technology Services staff in the identification and specification of application system reporting needs and other system requirements.
  • Work with system users to identify document and maintain operational procedures.
  • Provide training and support in the operation of hardware and software systems (classroom training one-on-one assistance telephone support).
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Associates degree or higher (attach diploma) in computer science math or related field; OR
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of training or experience closely related to computer help desk repair technician network set-up and or trouble shooting OR any combination of education and experience which would provide the desired knowledge skills and abilities described.

Certificates Licenses Registration & Other Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR card and pass Vector training modules as assigned.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Two (2) or Four (4) year degree in computer science math or related field.
  • Two years experience working with computer workstations and various application systems.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (May be acquired through education training and/or experience.)

Knowledge of: District policies and procedures; modern office practices and procedures; computer applications and technology used by the District; Microsoft Windows Apple/Mac OS; AST2 software Apple GSX site Jamf; SCCM warranty repair for Dell devices Extron systems local area and wide area networks computer workstation hardware and software; relational database concepts and reporting tools; letter writing correct language usage; telephone and record keeping/filing systems; safety and first aid practices and procedures.

Ability to: understand and apply District and school policies and procedures; greet stakeholders; manage time effectively; maintain appropriate office appearance and attire; maintain regular and acceptable attendance and punctuality as set forth in Board policy; provide information pertaining to area and/or District/School policies procedures and other pertinent information; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work and from diverse backgrounds; interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students staff parents and community members and resolves conflict in a professional manner; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; utilize appropriate grammar and spelling when corresponding make mathematical calculations accurately; follow oral and written instructions; accurately research various information and prepare related reports; prepare and present materials (technical or other) to groups or individuals; creatively solve problems using diagnostic information.
