Job Summary
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary function of the Junior Estimator is to assist Estimators with entry level tasks and intermediate tasks. The Junior Estimator will use project drawings specifications and job specific requirements to complete takeoffs and request vendor pricing. The Junior Estimator will utilize a variety of computer software applications to develop the bid and subsequent proposal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify record and convey project related scope of work and specifications to vendors and the assigned estimator.
Completing material/scope takeoffs and sourcing and project related vendors and suppliers.
Qualifying vendor quotes for complete scope and qualifications.
Work with GRs estimating materials and purchasing departments to maintain a current list of vendors throughout the country.
Assist vendors and subcontractors through the GR Smart Bid pre-qualification process.
Assist in the preparation of bid documents such as company proposals bid forms on screen takeoffs. And other pertinent documents.
Documentation of errors omissions and ambiguities found in bid documents.
Participate in scope review meetings with customers to demonstrate the companys knowledge of the project and expertise in the millwork industry.
Assist with pricing and review of change order requests.
Assist with the preparation of reports and estimate documentation for participation in project hand-off meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree in construction management or related field required.
1-3 years experience in technical role related to the construction industry.
Ability to read blueprints interior design and architectural drawings.
Comprehension of job cost records and their estimating applications.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to prioritize work and handle strict deadlines.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels within the organization as well as customers and vendors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. While this position is largely a sedentary role the employee frequently is required to stand walk use hands and fingers handle or feel as well as reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to sit climb balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to five pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to see and differentiate color and to focus.
