What Youll Do
Performs industrial hygiene functions including the anticipation recognition evaluation and control of environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace that may cause sickness impaired health or wellbeing or significant discomfort and inefficiency among workers. Coordinates the monitoring of all workplace environments by analyzing work operations and processes materials equipment and work habits of employees; measures the magnitude of exposure to workers of all environmental hazards by selecting or devising methods and instrumentation suitable for such measurements; and presents specific conclusions and recommendations to appropriate management groups. Monitors and controls the companys health standards in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Environmental Protection Agency Nuclear Regulatory Commission U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and state programs.
Minimum Job Requirements
- A Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- OR Masters Degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
- OR PhD
- OR Applicants without a bachelors degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 10 years of completed education and/or relevant experience
DOE Order 426.2A Requirements
In addition to the above requirements the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (Technical Support Personnel - (i.e. Baccalaureate in engineering or related science 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)

- A Bachelors of Science Degree in Industrial Hygiene chemistry or another related scientific discipline
- Or Masters of Science Degree in Industrial Hygiene chemistry or another related scientific discipline
- Or PhD of Science Degree in Industrial Hygiene chemistry or another related scientific discipline
- Four years of experience in Industrial Hygiene or a field related to Industrial Hygiene
- Experience with assessing processes for potential hazards
- General knowledge of OSHA and DOE safety & health regulations
- General knowledge of National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and OSHA sampling methods and associated equipment/instrumentation
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene
