Job Summary:
The Instructional Coach is a critical lever in improving student achievement. The position provides leadership direction and professional learning in the area of curriculum instruction and assessment. An instructional coach is a learner who models continuous improvement lifelong learning and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. Instructional coaches will promote reflection provide guidance and structure when needed and focus on strengths collaboration and common issues of concern. They are responsible for supporting teachers in developing specialized instruction in classrooms through modeling co-planning co-teaching and providing feedback to teachers.
Candidates must complete anon-lineapplication which requires appropriate Arizona certification valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card evidence of highly qualified status three letters of recommendation and transcript of credits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides guidance resources and assistance with a focus on strong instructional practices feedback and data analysis
- Models explicit systematic instruction including effective teaching techniques strategies and evidence-based best practices
- Models and provides feedback regarding effective instructional practices and implementation of district curriculum and resources
- Disseminates and discusses curriculum instruction and assessment related district issues and information to/with site administrators and collaborative teams
- Creates facilitates and monitors professional learning for leaders and collaborative teams
- Codesigns instruction with teacher teams
- Attends participates and/or co- facilitates regular Professional Learning Communities
- Facilitates data meetings with teachers and collaborative teams as they analyze and make data driven decisions to impact student achievement
- Attends site- and district-based leadership team grade-level and/or department and staff meetings
- Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in education or related field
- Masters degree (Preferred) in curriculum instruction educational leadership SPED literacy or a related field
- Arizona teaching certification
- Three to five years of successful teaching experience
- Leadership experience at school and/or district level such as Department Chair grade level lead new teacher mentor etc.
- Experience conducting workshops leading professional learning communities (PLCs) or mentoring peers is valuable
- Experience with diverse student populations and different instructional strategies

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Classroom setting as well as meeting rooms or offices for planning collaboration and professional development sessions
- Coaches spend much of their time in classrooms observing teachers co-teaching or modeling instructional strategies
- The work environment can be highly dynamic requiring coaches to move between classrooms attend meetings and juggle multiple responsibilities
- Typically follow a teachers schedule but may occasionally work as school hours for professional development sessions meetings or events
- Ability to move frequently between classrooms floors or buildings within a school or district
- Long periods of sitting or standing for planning data analysis observing classrooms co-teaching or professional development
- Occasionally lifting or carrying materials such as laptops instructional resources presentation equipment or teaching aids up to 2030 lbs.
