Job Summary
As a capex controller you will be supporting the companys multi-year capital investment program (250 Cr in office and factory expansion) by managing capex budgeting tracking MIS reporting cost control and supplier commercial negotiations support. The role ensures disciplined monitoring of Budget vs Actuals coordination with Engineering/Projects/Procurement and timely capex governance.
Responsibilities:
1. Capex Budgeting & Planning
- Build 35 year Capex Master Plan. Prepare annual and project-wise capex budgets phasing and cashflow schedules.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Projects for scope BOQ inputs and cost estimates.
- Maintain consolidated Capex Master File with budget allocations and approvals.
2. Budget vs Actual Tracking
- Monitor Budget vs. Commitment vs. Actual (B-C-A) monthly.
- Track PRs POs RA bills service entries and vendor invoices.
- Highlight variances with root-cause analysis (scope change price variance time delays).
3. Capex MIS & Reporting
- Prepare monthly capex MIS dashboards and management presentations.
- Update cashflow forecasts and project status reports for management review.
- Present expenditure progress commitments and forecast-to-complete.
4. Commercial & Cost Support
- Support Procurement in basic commercial comparison (L1/L2 analysis).
- Validate cost breakups BOQs rate comparisons and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Review vendor claims or change requests for financial compliance and reasonableness.
5. Accounting Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure correct accounting under CWIP capitalization readiness and asset tagging inputs.
- Coordinate with Finance for GST/TDS checks before invoice processing. Track ITC (GST) eligibility vendor compliance and manage TDS implications.
- Ensure capitalization criteria (IAS 16/Ind AS 16) asset tagging.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for budget approvals contracts and project expenses.
6. Systems & Data Management
- Work in SAP S/4HANA (IM/PS/CO preferred but training can be provided).
- Maintain trackers in Excel / Power BI ensuring accuracy and version control.
- Support digitalization and standardization of capex reporting formats.
7. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Projects Engineering Finance and Procurement teams.
- Follow up on milestones contractor bills and approvals to ensure timely processing.
- Prepare decks and documents for Capex Committee meetings.
Experience & Qualification:
Education
- CA Inter / CMA Inter / MBA Finance /
- Additional certification in project accounting or SAP is an advantage.
Experience
- 69 years total experience with 35 years in capex/project accounting project controls or finance in a manufacturing/engineering company.
- Hands-on experience in budgeting B-C-A tracking vendor bill scrutiny and MIS.
- Familiarity with civil/MEP/plant engineering terminology preferred but not mandatory.
