The Check & Straighten position identifies and corrects stress risers (warps and bends) that cause failure and non-conformance in Aerospace parts specifically shafts pins and tubing products. The position involves mechanical straightening (use of an arbor press or like tooling) as well as machine-driven straightening (use of hydraulic assisted press). Candidates will primarily handle thin-wall aluminum tubing but will occasionally handle stainless titanium and Inconel tubing and shafts. The position combines a need for strong hand-eye coordination with the ability to lift 35lbs regularly apply pressures from 1 lb. ft. to 10 lb. ft. and occasionally apply pressure up to 35lb ft using a mechanical arbor press. Additional qualifications include blueprint reading navigation and understanding of work order routings notes and instructions troubleshooting abilities and basic understanding of metal forming limits based on material and customer specifications. Employees may also perform additional tasks as required.
