The Role
Performs qualitative and quantitative analyses of organic inorganic compounds or biologics to determine chemical and physical properties during chemical syntheses fermentation or drug product development process by verifying their identity purity and homogeneity. Ascertains relationships between molecular structure and physical or biological properties to aid in analysis of compounds and molecules. Conducts research to develop or improve analytical techniques methodology procedures and investigates application of instruments in analysis. Organizes and interprets all data obtained using a wide variety of instrumental technologies. Provides technical support to run the mass spectrometry suite. Provides quality control specifications to ensure process consistency quality and optimal yield performance.
Must Have
Bachelors Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.
One of the following may be used as an equivalent to Bachelors Degree :
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associates Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing Shipbuilding Trades Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing Shipbuilding Trades Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Nice to Have
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance
Must have a valid drivers license and the ability to drive within the Shipyard to perform duties of this position
Preferred Degree in the Sciences (i.e. Chemistry Biology Biochemistry)
Have some working knowledge of good laboratory practices and procedures
