Primary Purpose: To support the academic achievement of emergent bilingual students by providing supplemental instructional support aligned with Title III requirements; to plan and deliver data-driven professional development for teachers of emergent bilingual students; and to promote meaningful family and community engagement that enhances participation in bilingual/ESL programs. Serve as a liaison between schools families and the community in supporting emergent bilingual migrant and immigrant students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelors degree
- Bilingual or ESL Certified
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
Special Knowledge Skills:
- Knowledge of bilingual and ESL programs
- Knowledge of Title III requirements
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated skills in writing editing and public speaking in English and Spanish
- Ability to analyze and interpret student performance data to inform instruction and professional learning
- Knowledge of effective instructional strategies for emergent bilingual migrant and immigrant students
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience preferably with emergent bilingual students
- Experience analyzing student data (TELPAS STAAR and local assessments)
- Experience with social media and technology platforms
- Community and/or school involvement
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop bilingual and ESL presentations to present at parent meetings at school home or other community locations to promote program awareness and information.
- Assist in development use and monitoring of social media and online communication tools to increase parent and community awareness and to share important information and events in English and Spanish to parents of bilingual/ESL students.
- Assist in translation of and dissemination of department and program information to families of EBs to promote awareness and involvement in campus department and community activities and events.
- Foster positive relations between bilingual/ESL parents and campuses and the community by conveying a positive image and a genuine concern for the involvement of families of EBs.
- Assist with record keeping and reports as required for Title III activities.
- Make home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information promoting school involvement and encouraging bilingual/ESL family participation.
- Serve as a liaison between home school and community.
- Inform appropriate school and department personnel of concerns of families of EBs;
- Perform duties in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Analyze student performance data to identify trends instructional gaps and targeted support needs for EBs
- Plan develop and deliver data-driven professional development aligned to Title III and district goals to improve instruction for EBs
- Participates in professional development programs which lead to improved job performance
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of professional development through ongoing data review and provide coaching and follow-up support
- Perform other duties as assigned by Bilingual/ESL Executive Director.
- Support the districts embedded instructional framework (AVID WICOR)
- Participate in campus visits to assess Academic and Accountability implementation and provide support
- Support the implementation and monitoring of district Academic and Accountability initiatives
