Job Summary
The successful candidate will spend about half of their time covering news stories and about half of their time covering sports stories. There may be some sports anchoring opportunities for the right candidate. This will include an integral part in our Home Team Friday high school football coverage and our After The Buzzer high school basketball coverage.
Job Description
Presents news & sports stories and other content for Linear Digital CTV App Social and other platforms
Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
Dynamic and compelling presenter and storyteller
Writes and presents news & sports stories clearly and concisely
Produces newscasts & sports segments and communicates clear direction with team members
Assists in writing copy editing researching and coordinating news & sports programming and other content
Acts as a field reporter/MMJ as assigned
Conducts interviews with news & sports personnel and others
Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsrooms situations as required
Participates in promotional activities including public appearances
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
Edits video clips as assigned
Writes content for the website and other digital platforms
Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Minimum two years experience in news reporting (More or less depending on market size)
- Superior on-air presence
- Proficiency with computers telephones copiers scanners fax machines and other office equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Valid drivers license with a good driving record
- Flexibility to work any shift
