Position Overview
The IT Project Manager for the AMI 2.0 Program will support multiple phases of the project lifecycle including planning execution monitoring and project closure for a major Advanced Metering Infrastructure initiative.
This role is responsible for coordinating project activities tracking progress maintaining schedules supporting documentation and reporting and ensuring alignment between functional requirements and technical delivery. The Project Manager will collaborate with business and technical teams and assist with vendor coordination under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning execution monitoring and closure activities across the AMI 2.0 project lifecycle
- Coordinate project tasks and maintain integrated project schedules
- Track progress against milestones and deliverables
- Schedule and facilitate project meetings
- Support preparation and maintenance of project documentation and reporting
- Assist with business process mapping and requirements gathering
- Maintain alignment between functional needs and technical delivery
- Monitor task completion across integration data infrastructure and testing workstreams
- Assist in preparing resource plans and tracking effort and cost estimates
- Support development and maintenance of:
- Integrated project plans
- Work breakdown structures
- Project schedules
- Coordinate activities across technical and business teams
- Track scope against baseline requirements
- Support change control processes
- Document scope changes and assess impacts
- Escalate risks and issues to senior leadership as needed
- Ensure traceability between requirements design and deliverables
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in engineering business computer science or other business-related disciplines (including liberal arts majors)
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience supporting large enterprise initiatives
- Experience managing scope schedule budget risks issues and deliverable management processes
- Experience supporting large IT project delivery solution blueprinting and implementation planning
- Broad IT infrastructure knowledge with ability to identify delivery gaps
Skills
- Strong analytical skills with ability to develop dashboards and reports using Excel and analytics tools
- Proficiency working with datasets using Microsoft Excel and Pivot Tables
- Strong communication problem-solving and cross-functional coordination skills
- Ability to quickly integrate into large programs and deliver results efficiently
- Ability to bridge business stakeholder needs with technical delivery requirements
- Capability to execute day-to-day project management deliverables while supporting oversight responsibilities
- Adaptability and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI 1.0 or 2.0) programs
- Experience supporting smart grid or electric utility technology initiatives
- Experience with enterprise integrations involving:
- MDMS
- Head-end systems
- OMS
- SAP
- ADMS
- Familiarity with cloud migration and implementation (on-premise to cloud)
- Experience presenting technical information to non-technical stakeholders
