Mechanical Project Engineer | Pensacola, FL

Principal Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for the analysis of HVAC plumbing and fire protection systems

• Develop detailed designs specifications and calculations using engineering software and tools per code requirements and IMEG standards

• Partner with clients to gather requirements communicate technical information and build and maintain strong working relationships

• Support consulting project execution as part of a project team including planning budgeting and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives

• Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress (percent complete and fee expended)

• Analyze engineering problems and develop practical efficient solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants

• Perform in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to meet IMEG industry and client requirements

• Stay current on industry trends emerging technologies and best practices; contribute to research development and innovation efforts within IMEG

• Prioritize safety by identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with mechanical systems

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineers architects and project managers) to deliver integrated solutions aligned to project goals

• Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager

• Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phase

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required

• Professional Engineer (PE) License required

• 2 years of experience minimum required 4 preferred in the building design consulting industry (years of experience may vary based on state license qualifications)

• Proficiency in design techniques tools and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications

• Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics psychrometrics heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC plumbing and fire protection systems

• Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff

• Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including HVAC load calculation software

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Eagerness to adapt to new challenges

• Proficiency in the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software

• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word Excel and Outlook

• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

• Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
