Job Summary
IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer in Pensacola FL to lead mechanical design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects while supporting the delivery of larger high-complexity work with senior this role youll provide engineering solutions and advice to clients with responsibilities spanning analysis design and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. Youll also work within the projects monetary budget while training mentoring and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
Principal Responsibilities
Lead design efforts for the analysis of HVAC plumbing and fire protection systems
Develop detailed designs specifications and calculations using engineering software and tools per code requirements and IMEG standards
Partner with clients to gather requirements communicate technical information and build and maintain strong working relationships
Support consulting project execution as part of a project team including planning budgeting and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives
Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress (percent complete and fee expended)
Analyze engineering problems and develop practical efficient solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants
Perform in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to meet IMEG industry and client requirements
Stay current on industry trends emerging technologies and best practices; contribute to research development and innovation efforts within IMEG
Prioritize safety by identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with mechanical systems
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineers architects and project managers) to deliver integrated solutions aligned to project goals
Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager
Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phase
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required
Professional Engineer (PE) License required
2 years of experience minimum required 4 preferred in the building design consulting industry (years of experience may vary based on state license qualifications)
Proficiency in design techniques tools and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics psychrometrics heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC plumbing and fire protection systems
Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including HVAC load calculation software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
Proficiency in the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word Excel and Outlook
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
