The Role
Under the guidance of the Controller the Project Accountant is responsible for assisting with the timely preparation and processing of project related financial information and a wide variety of other general accounting duties.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Completing daily and monthly accounting for various types of construction projects
- Managing and reconciling subcontractor contracts and purchase orders
- Preparing and posting monthly accounts receivable invoices
- Posting accounts payable invoices
- Preparing payment certificates and cheque runs/EFTs
- Preparing various month end reconciliations
- Preparing and analyzing month end project financial statements
- Assisting with other assignments as required
Qualifications
- 1-3 years previous experience in an accounting role
- Experience in a similar construction/job cost accounting role is considered an asset
- Completion of post-secondary degree/diploma/certificate with a focus on accounting
- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook Excel Word Teams etc.)
- Experience with Jonas software would be an asset
- Strong organization skills and ability to work independently
