Middle School Theater Arts Instructor

Position Summary

The STEP Program is seeking a dynamic and engaging Middle School Theater Arts Instructor to deliver a high-quality summer enrichment course for students in grades 78. This part-time temporary position focuses on integrating theater arts with academic development helping students build confidence communication skills creativity and self-expression.


Leadership:
Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of student and/or temporary workers.


Physical Requirements:
Moderate physical effort required involving long periods of standing walking on rough surfaces bending and/or stooping periodic lifting of moderately heavy items (over 25 lbs. -- 50 lbs.).


Working Conditions:
Standard working environment with possible minor inconveniences due to occasional noise crowded working conditions and/or minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems. Near continuous use (>70% of the time) of a video display terminal

Additional Position Information:

Education: Bachelors Degree.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Theater Performing Arts Education or a related field
  • Experience working with middle school-aged students (teaching mentoring or youth programs)
  • Demonstrated background in theater arts (performance directing or instruction)
  • Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage diverse learners in an inclusive environment
  • Experience in summer enrichment or college access programs
  • Experience working with first-generation underrepresented or underserved student populations
  • Ability to incorporate culturally relevant and engaging content


Compensation: $30.00 hourly
