DescriptionJob Summary:
Evaluates the functional vision needs of individuals with visual impairments and provides instruction consultation and follow up services to support independence and quality of life. This includes assessment individualized and group instruction documentation collaboration with interdisciplinary professionals and participation in program development.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Client Evaluation and Instruction (40%)
- Conducts comprehensive evaluations to identify client needs skill levels and functional goals related to vision rehabilitation.
- Develops and delivers individualized and group instruction in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy.
- Monitors client progress and document improvement through observation client feedback and follow up forms.
- Provides clear detailed recommendations and explanations as part of evaluation reports.
- Supports client independence through consultation instruction and ongoing services.
Documentation and Reporting (20%)
- Maintains accurate and timely client records including evaluations progress notes and final reports.
- Completes evaluation reports and instructional reports efficiently.
- Ensures accurate and timely data entry for statistical tracking and billing purposes.
- Completes client inventories and billing documentation in accordance with agency requirements.
- Prepares written documentation that clearly reflects client skill levels progress and instructional content.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities (20%)
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members and external professionals to ensure comprehensive client care.
- Identifies additional client needs and provide appropriate referrals to internal or external services.
- Responds promptly and accurately to inquiries calls and service requests.
- Provides consultation and information regarding adaptive equipment and resources.
- Participates in program planning development and identification of unmet service needs.
- Contributes to the implementation of unit and departmental key deliverables.
- Prepares for and deliver presentations projects and professional activities that meet program goals and timelines.
- Shares professional knowledge and best practices across the organization.
- Engages in ongoing professional development and activities that support agency and program objectives.
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
- Masters degree in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy required.
- ACVREP certification as a Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT) or commitment to obtain certification.
- Dual certification in Orientation & Mobility (O&M) preferred.
- Prior training and experience in vision rehabilitation therapy strongly preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational documentation and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Ability to travel throughout the service area in southwestern Ohio Northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana.
