Experience:
- Data Architecture & Documentation:
- Document SQL Server structures data flows and relationships.
- Maintain a data dictionary and catalogue.
- Identify gaps and risks in the data model.
- Business Analysis & Reporting:
- Translate finance/operations reporting needs into data solutions.
- Write and optimise SQL queries.
- Build and maintain Excel dashboards and reports.
- Provide ad hoc business analysis.
- Database Improvement & Modelling:
- Recommend SQL Server performance and structural improvements.
- Design normalised data models.
- Review schema changes with data engineering.
- Testing & Quality Assurance:
- Develop and run test plans for database changes.
- Validate data integrity and support data quality checks.
- User Enablement & SQL Support:
- Train and support users in SQL.
- Act as the first point of contact for data/reporting queries.
- Promote good data practices and selfservice analytics.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Degree in information Systems Computer Science Mathematics or Statistics
- 8-10 years experience in a Data Analyst or Business Analyst role
- Strong SQL skills - Complex queries joins aggregations and window functions in T-SQL
- Experience documenting data architecture data models or data dictionaries
