Description

The Analysis and Insight team delivers analytical support to Social Security Scotland across four professional specialisms Social Research Operational Research Statistics and Economics providing evidence analysis and insight across devolved benefit delivery. This post is in the Advanced Analytics team within the Fiscal Analysis Branch and supports intelligence management in the Fraud and Error Resolution unit who require data analysis to support fraud and error mitigation operations.

This post is based in Social Security Scotland in Glasgow Dundee or Victoria Quay Edinburgh and reports to the C2 Head of Fiscal Analysis in Analysis and Insight. The post holder will manage a team of five staff (two direct) and will work closely with the other team leaders within Analysis and Insight. There will be opportunities to participate in cross analytical working and this is strongly encouraged.



Responsibilities
  • Manage Fraud and Error Operational Research team consisting of 2 x B3 and 3 x B2 staff to deliver a program of advanced analytics projects in support of fraud and error resolution unit.
  • Using data driven methods identify cases for the Fraud and Error Resolution Unit to investigate.
  • Provide ad-hoc fraud and error analysis work responding to emerging evidence requirements for mitigation and investigation.
  • Collaborate with Fraud and Error Resolution Unit to assess the quality of Fraud and Error Data Layer data and develop future reporting requirements.
  • Provide consultancy support on prioritisation for programme of Monetary Value of Fraud and Error official statistics.
  • Provide consultancy support for business case development and evaluation across fraud and error topics.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role you must be an Operational Researcher at substantive B3 grade or above.

Experience:

  • Experience working in a Government Operational Research Service (GORS) Badged Operational Researcher role at substantive B3 grade or above.

Hybrid Working
We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow Dundee offices or Victoria Quay Edinburgh. There is an expectation of a minimum 2 days per week in your assigned location.
