Join the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Mental Capacity Act Teamfacilitatingthe Councils ability to grant standard authorisations to care homes nursinghomesand hospital wards. We act as a source of support and advice to teams for mattersregardingthe Mental Capacity Act assessments and best interests decisions.

As a Best Interests Assessoryoullwork within a small dedicated team to assess residents in care homes to determine if a deprivation of liberty is occurring. Responsibilities include conductingDoLSassessmentsmaintainingaccuratecase records and offering expert consultation. Assessments involve face-to-face discussions with adults evaluating care plans and assessing their capacity to understand their care situation.

Our ideal candidate will have proven experience as a registered Social Worker or Occupational Therapist along with a Best Interests Assessor the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and its Code ofPractice is essential. Success in this role requires strong record-keeping clear reporting aligned with legal standards and the ability to assess evaluate and analyse complex evidence effectively for sound decision-making.
