Job Description:

This position is considered a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge in this area and an in-depth knowledge of project management. The person in this position will provide coordination and technical direction across the Mission Assurance functional area and will be an independent advocate to Program Managers effectively operating in a risk mitigation role for a program or multiple programs while providing independent oversight of technical execution of programs to ensure 100% mission success of Missile Solutions supplied hardware. This position is also responsible for driving mission success across the enterprise through the creation application and maintenance of tools and mechanisms to ensure objective oversight & risk mitigation during all phases of the product/program life cycle.

Essential Functions:

  • Plays an integral role to achieve 100% mission success and customer satisfaction through multifaceted application of risk mitigation activities and continuous objective oversight.

  • Leads and resolves technical program and schedule critical issues and failure investigations to meet company and customer commitments.

  • May represent the company in technical industry forums and peer reviews to maintain required technical visibility and interaction needed to capture new business.

  • Defines and coordinates the technical efforts in executing a Systems Engineering approach to Mission Assurance (MA) with emphasis on proactive Risk Management throughout the various large/missile defense program life cycles.

  • Prepares MA program engagement plans in conjunction with program management which defines and allocates requirements.

  • Plan conduct and technically direct major phases of significant projects related to MA execution priorities coordinating efforts of technical staff as required. Ensure effective execution of the programs Risk Management process for assigned programs/product lines.

  • Provide in-depth technical assessments of key program issues coordinating as necessary with senior engineering and operations leadership and customers.

  • Prepare/approve technical presentations engineering reports failure analyses problem dispositions for technical cost schedule and program impact.

  • Lead process assessments of program team processes to identify Mission Assurance concerns and technical issues assure that root causes are understood and timely/effective corrective and preventive actions are defined and presented at Corrective Action Boards.

  • Supports technical industry forums and internal program milestone reviews (SRR CoDR PDR CDR FRR ERB/FRB etc.) to ensure appropriate application of risk mitigation tools best practices and formal lessons learned capture and application.

  • Provide technical consultation to technical staff and review appropriate DFMEAs/PFMEAs generated on assigned programs for adequacy and recommend updates as deemed necessary.

  • Work with Engineering functional counterparts to lead the development integration and utilization of Lessons Learned enterprise database to capture document and share appropriate lessons learned including assessment against program risk registers for potential impact as appropriate and Alert coordination.

  • Contribute to program development and support and approve Flight Readiness/ MA Reviews.

  • Participate as an independent reviewer or voting member in internal/ customer Design Reviews and Critical Reviews including Engineering Review Boards and Failure Review Boards. Development Production Experimental and Program).

  • Up to 15% business travel required.

  • Ability to obtain U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant quality or mission assurance experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience quality or mission assurance lieu of a degree minimum of 13 years of prior related quality or mission assurance experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Recognized as a MA technical resource with demonstrated lead roles in defining and executing Mission Assurance initiatives.

  • Demonstrated achievements in providing new capabilities and solving challenging problems.

  • Demonstrated track record of knowledge sharing mentoring and coaching.

  • Engagement with key professional society technical committees such as AIAA ASQ etc. & govt advisory boards (e.g. AF NASA MDA MAP/PMAP etc.)
