Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Performance Engineer to join our SAP Green Token team and take ownership of the stability resilience and performance of our cloud-native sustainability platform. You will work across a full-stack environment Java/Spring Boot microservices and SAP BTP cloud infrastructure to ensure our product delivers a fast reliable experience at scale.

The Role:

Performance Analysis & Optimization: Profile and tune Java 25 / Spring Boot microservices database queries (SAP HANA) throughput and resource-efficiency targets.

Load & Stress Testing: Design implement and maintain automated load/stress/soak test suites; define and enforce performance budgets for critical user journeys.

Reliability Engineering: Identify single points of failure improve error handling and retry/fallback strategies and drive adoption of circuit-breaker and bulkhead patterns across services.

Incident Prevention & Response: Conduct root-cause analyses of production incidents define remediation plans and implement systemic fixes to prevent recurrence.

CI/CD Quality Gates: Integrate performance regression checks into Jenkins pipelines and Gradle build processes so degradations are caught before deployment.

Knowledge Sharing: Champion a performance-aware culture through documentation code reviews and pairing sessions with feature teams.

What you bring:

6 years in engineering

Strong proficiency in Java (modern versions) and the Spring Boot ecosystem including concurrency memory management and GC tuning.

Hands-on experience with load testing tools (Gatling JMeter k6 or similar).

Deep understanding of relational database performance query optimization indexing strategies connection pool tuning (experience with SAP HANA is a plus).

Solid knowledge of HTTP REST API performance caching strategies and CDN behavior.

Experience building and interpreting observability stacks (metrics logs traces) using tools such as Prometheus Grafana Dynatrace or similar.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins Gradle) and integrating automated performance gates.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset comfortable reading flame graphs heap dumps thread dumps and GC logs.

Excellent communication skills ability to translate technical findings into actionable recommendations for engineering and product stakeholders.

What we consider beneficial:

Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Cloud Foundry or similar PaaS environments.

Knowledge of multi-tenant SaaS architectures and the reliability challenges they introduce.

Deployments managed by Kubernetes (HELM Docker)

Familiarity with Gradle multi-module monorepo build systems.
