Job Summary

Under direction of HIQAs Borough or Unit Coordinator the Deputy will perform the following functions: supervise train and evaluates the work of inspection staff in both field and office operations; demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of DOT HIQA ADA and all applicable rules and regulations; provides training to inspection staff as needed; reviews audits and ensures quality control of inspection reports enforcement actions and compliance documentation; distributes monitors and manages inspection workload within assigned borough or operational unit; conducts special inspections protest inspections and complex investigations involving unusual disputed or high-risk conditions; responds timely to high-priority complaints and inquiries from Executive Staff Commissioners Office Mayors Office Elected Officials Media and other agencies; assists in the development review and modification of policies procedures operational standards and training materials; represents the Borough or Unit in meetings and serves as a liaison to contractors utility companies city agencies and the public; maintains professional communication administrative compliance court representative and supervisory responsibilities; conducts vehicle equipment and operational audits to ensure safety accountability and readiness; issues summonses and appears in court when required; prepares various reports; responds in a professional and timely manner to operational/administrative requests from HIQAs Administrative/Executive Staff; supervise the office staff in the absence of the Borough Coordinator or Unit Coordinator; participates in the interviewing process for new hires; approves timesheets; prepares tasks and standards performance evaluations and probationary reports; takes appropriate disciplinary action when needed by submitting required documentation; attends workshops and training classes.

ASSOCIATE INSPECTOR (HIGHWAYS - 31645


Qualifications :

1. Six years of full-time paid experience in the construction and/or repair of roads and sewers one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
2. Four years of experience as described in 1 above at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity plus two years of education in an accredited college or technical school in a program specializing in the construction or repair of roads and sewers or education toward a baccalaureate degree in Engineering Architecture or Engineering Technology with a specialization in the area of roads or sewers; or
3. At least one year of experience as described in 1 above which must have been in a supervisory capacity plus completion of an approved five year apprenticeship program in highway or sewer inspection; or
4. Completion of three years of apprenticeship in highway or sewer inspection plus either three years of experience as described in 1 above one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity or one year of experience as described in 1 above which must have been in a supervisory capacity and two years of education as described in 2 above; or
5. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 2 3 or 4 above.
All candidates must have one year of experience as described in 1 above which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
