Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and clinically skilled Board-Certified or Board-Eligible (BC/BE) Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician to join our hospitalist team as a this role you will be responsible for providing high-quality inpatient care during overnight shifts managing admissions from the Emergency Department and providing cross-coverage for existing inpatients. You will serve as the primary point of clinical decision-making during nighttime hours ensuring patient safety and continuity of care.

We are seeking a dedicated and clinically skilled Board-Certified or Board-Eligible (BC/BE) Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician to join our hospitalist team as a this role you will be responsible for providing high-quality inpatient care during overnight shifts managing admissions from the Emergency Department and providing cross-coverage for existing inpatients. You will serve as the primary point of clinical decision-making during nighttime hours ensuring patient safety and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Admissions & Evaluations: Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations for new admissions arriving through the Emergency Department or via direct transfer.
- Acute Care Management: Provide immediate assessment and intervention for acute clinical changes in the inpatient population (cross-coverage).
- Collaborative Handoffs: Ensure seamless transitions of care through detailed verbal and written sign-outs to the daytime hospitalist team.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with nursing staff respiratory therapists and on-call specialists to manage complex cases and urgent medical needs.
- Procedure Performance: (If applicable to facility) Perform necessary nighttime procedures such as intubations central line placements or paracentesis or coordinate with the ICU team for advanced support.
- Documentation: Complete all admission notes progress notes and discharge summaries accurately within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Education: Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Training: Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for an unrestricted State Medical License and active DEA registration.
- Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) by the ABIM or ABFM.
- Prior experience in a high-acuity hospitalist or nocturnist role.
- Strong competency in bedside ultrasound and acute procedural skills.
- Ability to work independently and make critical clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with nocturnal staff and anxious families.
