Job Summary

URBANA SCHOOL DISTRICT #116

TITLE: See U Around Town Summer School Programming Coordinator

LOCATION: Dr. Preston Williams Jr. Elementary School (One site for the summer program which includes students from King Preston Williams Thomas Paine Leal and Yankee Ridge Elementary currently enrolled in grades 2-4).

SUPERVISOR: This position reports directly to the Program Director and building administration.

PROGRAM DATES: June 8th - July 16th 2026

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

  1. Lead staff to prepare creative and engaging enrichment activities.
  2. Implement non-digital lessons in a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that assists students assigned to the classroom with achieving specific educational goals.
  3. Work with staff to create classroom environments that are welcoming to all students.
  4. Collaborate with staff assigned to the classroom to develop general classroom procedures goals schedules behavioral expectations and classroom activities for students.
  5. Plan and implement activities inside and outside of the classroom that expose a child to a variety of learning experiences and broaden the childs perspective.
  6. Take daily attendance and complete other required documentation as assigned.
  7. Review develop and requisition materials for the classrooms.
  8. Work in partnership with the staff to plan and encourage family involvement in the education of their children.
  9. Supervise students as assigned by the Principal and/or program director.
  10. Perform any and all additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or Building Administration.
  11. Take an active role in scheduling onsite schedules and field trips including completion of bus request forms
  12. Maintain and reconcile budget related documentation and report information to administrative team in a timely manner. Manage program logistics (assign rooms manage materials and resources) meet deadlines follow protocol (allergies medication fieldtrips student safety) complete required reports and provide required documentation.

Minimal Educational Requirements:

  1. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with certifications and endorsements as applicable.
  2. Type 75 license preferred.

Experience:

  1. Classroom experience preferred.
  2. Prior experience working in an after school program or summer programming is preferred but not required.
  3. Internal applicants only.

Other skills and abilities:

  1. Ability to assess children and knowledge of childhood development.
  2. Ability to communicate and work effectively on a collaborative team.
  3. Ability to effectively work with students with a history of behavioral social/emotional and/or developmental disabilities.
  4. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and responses preferred.

Licenses/Credentials:

  1. Valid Illinois Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement.
  2. Type 75 Administrative License preferred.

Terms of Employment:

  1. Daily hours 8:30-3:30 four days a week (June 8 - July 16 2026); closed June 18th for Juneteenth and July 6 for the 4th of July.
  2. The position is for summer programming only when the program is in session.
  3. Develop and implement an orientation meeting prior to the start of this program.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on the evaluation of professional personnel.

NOTE:

  1. This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not administrative in nature.
  2. Position contingent upon grant funding.
  3. Staff must formally apply by April 7 2026.
  4. Hourly Position - $42/hour $1000 planning stipend
