Senior Manager Tax Controversy

The opportunity

As our Senior Manager Tax Controversy you will advise clients on a broad range of tax matters with a focus on the technical and tactical management of ATO reviews and engagement. You will also have the chance to shape and drive your career through our comprehensive development programs to help you be the best version of yourself both inside and outside of work. This is a hybrid position. This role can be performed from our office in Naarm Melbourne. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your key responsibilities

  • Advise a range of clients from large corporates to high-net-worth individuals contributing to the development and implementation of tax strategies and solutions for client.
  • Research a range of tax matters including tax administration and international tax matters.
  • Get involved in dispute resolution processes and help clients respond to requests for information in the context of ATO reviews and audits.
  • Draft various documents including objections private binding ruling requests requests for amended assessments and submissions in relation to penalties.
  • Collaborate with partners and staff across different geographies to maintain connectivity and visibility.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Law degree and admission to practice law in Australia with 6 years PQE
  • Strong tax technical and legal research skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with a number of different clients and internal stakeholders on multiple deadlines

Ideally youll also have the skills and attributes below but dont worry if you dont tick all the boxes. Were interested in your aptitude attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Experience in tax advisory or tax controversy in a Big 4 firm law firm or similar environment
  • Problem solving abilities and a focus on solutions
  • Willingness to learn and become involved in a range of different types of work
