The Systems Engineer is responsible for developing custom medium and high throughput automated research systems. Together well be giving scientists around the world the tools to craft the next generation of medical treatments improvements in agricultural crops and other life science innovations. Work is performed in a team environment consisting of various engineering disciplines project managers and technicians.
You are a motivated individual who doesnt like to do just one thing. Youre seeking the opportunity to perform a diverse set of engineering tasks. Your work will span from initial design to final system ready to ship. Youll collaborate with software and hardware engineers to design build and test the best system for our customers to use.
You will be directly responsible for project quoting design of automated systems requirement documentation user documentation testing of software and automation equipment and technical support. You will work in a team environment of various engineering disciplines project managers and technicians.
This position reports to the Manager ASG Systems Engineering and is part of the Access Solutions Group located in Indianapolis IN and will be an on-site role. The ASG delivers over 400 projects per year in a fast-paced collaborative setting.
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop Automated Laboratory systems
- Integrate liquid handlers robots and various laboratory equipment into automated systems
- Develop design requirements based upon customer needs
- Work cross-functionally to produce small electromechanical assemblies
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Computer Science Physics Chemistry or Biology
- Industry experience
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Experience with systems engineering or life science research and automation
Travel Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Ability to lift move or carry equipment up to 35lb
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Robotics or laboratory research experience preferred
- Flexibility hands on broad skill sets proven interpersonal skills
- Comfortable with PC hardware and networking
