The Office of Student Affairs invites applications for the post of Senior Residential Life Officer / Residential Life Officer in the Student Accommodation Section which manages around 3700 on-campus residential places and provides comprehensive residential education in the context of whole-person development to students. We are seeking a committed and capable individual to play a key role in fostering a vibrant inclusive and supportive living-learning environment for student residents.
Senior Residential Life Officer / Residential Life Officer ()
The appointee is expected to be a highly selfmotivated individual who will work closely with the Masters of Student Residences and the Admission and Residential Education Team in the Student Accommodation Section. He/she will be heavily involved in resident communication and providing support for residential education. The appointee will also be responsible for maintaining a safe supportive healthy and positive living environment for outside normal office hours and taking up on-call duties are required.
Responsibilities:
- Serving as a role model and primary point of contact for students and residents providing support guidance and responding to concerns related to living arrangements;
- Supporting Masters and the Residential Education Team in the planning implementation and evaluation of residential education programmes training sessions and activities including providing guidance to studentled initiatives and events;
- Developing and supervising student leaders (e.g. tutors mentors captains or other leadership roles) who assist with the management of residential floors and communities;
- Facilitating students compliance with the University rules regulations and policies to maintain a safe healthy and positive residential environment;
- Providing administrative and operational support to hostel management and development;
- Residing in staff quarters and performing duties outside normal office hours including oncall duties on a roster basis to respond to emergencies or urgent situations within the student residences;
- Handling student discipline cases and providing support in crisis intervention as required; and
- Undertaking any other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A bachelors degree or above;
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience preferably in tertiary institutions and/or student residence settings;
- A genuine interest in student development with good organisational and people management skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese including Cantonese and Putonghua;
- A strong sense of responsibility sound judgement and problemsolving ability with the maturity to work independently; and
- Proficiency in standard software applications and information systems.
Candidates with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment at the rank of Residential Life Officer. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test.
The initial appointment will be made on a twoyear fixedterm contract. Reappointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and satisfactory performance.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
