Production Planning & Control:
- Develop and manage daily weekly and monthly production schedules
- Ensure optimal utilisation of machinery labour and materials
- Monitor production output and adjust plans to meet deadlines
- Coordinate with sales and dispatch to prioritise urgent orders
- Oversee all production processes (cutting edging tempering laminating IG units)
- Ensure smooth workflow between departments
- Minimise downtime and production delays
- Drive continuous improvement in processes and efficiency
- Ensure all glass products meet required specifications and standards
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures
- Reduce defects rework and wastage
- Liaise with quality teams to resolve issues
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act)
- Enforce safety procedures in high-risk areas (machinery glass handling)
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments
- Promote a strong safety culture within the plant
- Manage supervisors operators and production staff
- Plan shifts overtime and manpower requirements
- Train and develop employees
- Handle disciplinary issues in line with company policies
- Ensure machinery is properly maintained and serviced
- Work with maintenance teams to reduce breakdowns
- Monitor equipment performance and efficiency
- Manage production costs including labour materials and waste
- Improve productivity and reduce operational expenses
- Monitor KPIs and implement cost-saving initiatives
- Prepare production reports (output downtime efficiency)
- Track KPIs and performance metrics
- Maintain accurate production records
- Diploma/Degree in Production Management Engineering or related field
- Additional certifications in Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma (advantageous)
- 58 years experience in a manufacturing/production environment
- Minimum 3 years in a management role
- Experience in glass processing is highly advantageous
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent planning and organisational ability
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and machinery
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong understanding of health & safety regulations
- Production targets achieved (daily/monthly output)
- Reduction in wastage and breakages
- Machine downtime and efficiency
- On-time order completion
- Health & Safety compliance
- Staff productivity and performance
