They help clients navigate complex transactions and maximise value in their business deals.Those in corporate finance at PwC will provide strategic financial advice and solutions to help clients navigate complex business transactions and optimise their capital structure. You will analyse financial data conduct due diligence and assist in mergers acquisitions and divestitures.
Focused on relationships you are building meaningful client connections and learning how to manage and inspire others. Navigating increasingly complex situations you are growing your personal brand deepening technical expertise and awareness of your strengths. You are expected to anticipate the needs of your teams and clients and to deliver quality. As aseniorassociate/ junior managerwithin the financial modelling team you will work with a team of experienced financial modellers withstrong technical skills andcommercial acumen.The roleprovidesan excellent opportunity to grow within a rapidly expanding area ofDeals.
Roles & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have a support role to play in the team across a broad range offinancial modelling engagementsincluding the development and review of financial models.
The candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of clients from global multinationals through to entrepreneurial owner managed businesses covering both domestic and cross border work.Financial modelling exposure includes operational models transactionmodelsand project finance models.
Financial modelling role
The candidate willbe requiredto(model development):
Meet with senior client personnel (ranges from C-suite to senior management positions) to obtain a detailed understanding of what the financial model should do and how the business / projectthat will be modelledworks.
Prepare adocument thatcaptures thatunderstanding (i.e. report writing skills are important).
Develop a financial model based on the detailed understanding obtained.
Workshop the financial model with the client explaining how the model works pitching it at the correct level depending on the audience(presentation skills).
(not to scare anyone off coaching and guidance will be provided throughout the above it is not expected that the candidate should be able to doall ofthe above on their own)
The candidate willbe requiredto(model review):
Critically analyse a financial model andidentify(i) non-compliance with financial modelling best practices and (ii) areas not accuratelyrepresentingthe business / project being modelled
Writea detailed report clearly articulating the mattersidentified
Present the report to the client
Ideally the candidate isa problem solver who enjoys using analytical toolssuch as (but not limited to) Excel.

When considering the broader Deals / Corporate Finance environment why are you interested in financial modelling in particular
Purpose of the question is to exclude candidates that is simply using financial modelling as a steppingstone / point of entry into Deals / Corporate Finance but has no intention of staying with us.
If it is clear based on the response that the candidate is more interested in e.g. investment banking then the candidate should be excluded.
Comfortable to give the candidate the benefit of the doubt i.e. if it is not clear that the candidate prefers other parts of Deals / Corporate Finance then include.

Requirements
BCom(Finance/IT)
1-3years experiencein financial modelling
Experience in visualisation toolse.g.Power BI would beadvantageous
Advanced Financial Modeller (AFM) or similar accreditation would beadvantageous
To be successful in this role
Strong financial skills arecritical;
Good understanding of accounting andIFRS;
Problem solvingcapabilities;
Meticulous attention todetail;
A desire to build on commercial and industryknowledge;
Highly proficient inMicrosoftExcel;
Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint;
