Job Title: Material Handler I
Location: Rockford IL 61103
Duration: 12 months
Schedule
- Shift: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
- Breaks: Two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute break
Pay : $18-20/hr
Position Summary The Material Handler I is responsible for maintaining the efficient movement of incoming and outgoing products throughout the facility ensuring accuracy safety and productivity in all warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities - Follow all company policies and guidelines related to workplace safety and product quality.
- Review production schedules customer orders work orders shipping orders or requisitions to determine materials to be moved or distributed.
- Transport materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or designated locations.
- Sort and store materials on racks shelves or bins based on predetermined criteria (size type style color or product code).
- Pick pack and assemble customer orders from inventory and prepare them for shipment.
- Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments including palletized and non-palletized products.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts (stand-up and sit-down) and pallet jacks.
- Record and maintain accurate inventory data using warehouse computer systems.
- Inspect count and verify materials to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Label materials with identifying information as required.
- Open and handle containers such as bales crates and boxes.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas following safety and hygiene standards.
- Support team operations and contribute to achieving departmental goals.
- Meet internal and external customer expectations through timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment & Team Structure - Work within a team of 5 6 members under the supervision of a Team Lead.
- Warehouse environment similar to a high-volume distribution setting.
- Primary objective is to process and clear overdue orders efficiently to meet customer and client demands.
Qualifications Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Experience:
- 1 3 years of relevant warehouse or material handling experience
- Minimum 2 years of forklift experience preferred (certification provided on-site)
Skills & Knowledge:
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management
- Basic computer skills and ability to use warehouse management systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Physical Requirements - Ability to stand sit see and hear continuously
- Frequent walking typing and writing
- Lift and carry up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to climb stairs bend reach push and pull frequently
- Capability to operate equipment and communicate effectively (verbal and written)
Working Conditions - Indoor and outdoor work as required
- Exposure to temperatures ranging from 0 F to 120 F
- Work in environments with noise requiring hearing protection
- Exposure to dust dirt and concrete flooring
- Occasional travel to other locations meetings or seminars
