Job Summary
Commodity Manager - Mechanical
Location: Pittsburgh PA
We are recruiting a Commodity Manager to join our Procurement team at Industrial into the Director Global Procurement you will be responsible for managing and providing leadership for global spend within the Mechanical parts commodity that includes industrial gases sensors plastics pumps packaging and hardware.
You will be responsible for developing and executing commodity strategies to improve cost productivity quality and innovation capabilities within the global supply base. As part of this you will analyze and manage the companysglobal commodity spend assess market conditions identify opportunities to create value for the company and align business needs for quality cost delivery and growth.
Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Develop high-efficiency high-quality domestic and/or global sources of supply for materials and services.
- Manage the supply base through supplier scorecards and quarterly business reviews.
- Manage commodity spend using procurement processes & systems. Focus on price quality delivery innovation supply chain efficiency & working capital.
- Develop and present commodity strategies detailed reports analysis and sourcing or business-related presentations to staff and management.
- Negotiate implement and manage contracts.
- Able to project manage a cross-functional team including suppliers to successfully implement a commodity strategy cost savings initiative or transition a source of supply.
- Stays current on new processes techniques and supplier capabilities using continuous improvement tools while ensuring leverage across operating units.
- Use data analytics industry benchmarking and strategic sourcing methodologies to build a robust pipeline of PPV/VAVE cost savings initiatives.
- Collaborate with Fortive Commodity Managers to ensure best practices and greatest leverage in procurement low-cost region sourcing supplier assessment & management.
- Manage outsourcing and dual-sourcing initiatives within the commodity space.
- Must be able to travel up to 20% to find develop and manage domestic and/or global sources of supply.
- Other duties as assigned.
Organizational Alignment
- This role reports directly to the Director Global Procurement and works very closely with the Material Planning Supplier Quality Asia Pacific Operations & Engineering teams.

Technical Competencies
- Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Oracle ERP is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word Excel PowerPoint and Access.
Experience
- 5 years experience in Procurement and Strategic Sourcing within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a global organization building and optimizing programs across diverse teams and culture.
- Experience with lean manufacturing in a global operation and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
Education
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management Business Administration Economics Engineering or related field.
- Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is a plus.
- ISM certification as CPSM is a plus.
