At Dove House Academy we believe every child deserves to be understood supported and empowered to succeed no matter their starting point. We are a warm nurturing community where staff pupils and families come together to create a learning environment filled with compassion and possibility. We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SENCO to join our academy and help us provide the care guidance and personalised support our pupils deserve.
Dove House is a popular successful and highly regarded school in Basingstoke for students with severe learning difficulties and autism aged between 11-19. We are proud to be an Outstanding school but retain our passion to keep moving forward.
As our SENCo you will play a key part in helping our pupils grow learn and feel confident in themselves. You will:
- Lead on SEND with empathy clarity and high expectations
- Oversee Annual Reviews ensuring reports are shared and submitted within statutory timeframes
- Provide regular training and advice to tutors teachers and class leaders
- Work closely with teachers support staff families and external partners
- Be the designated teacher for children looked after
- Be a deputy designated safeguarding lead
You will be a qualified teacher with the National Award for SEN Coordination (or working towards it). You will be warm approachable and passionate about supporting children with additional needs. You will be skilled at building trusting relationships with pupils families and staff. You will be organised reflective and committed to creating an academy where every child feels safe and supported.
