Job Summary
We are currently conducting a Controller search for a Commercial General Contractor based in Tempe AZ. Reporting directly to the CFO this role will oversee a small accounting team and be responsible for core accounting operations including month-end close job costing accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and financial reporting. The Controller will also play a key role in financial planning performance analysis and an upcoming ERP system conversion.
This is an in-office role 5 days a week at their office in Tempe Arizona.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee month-end close general ledger accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and overall accounting operations.
- Lead annual budgeting forecasting financial modeling and profitability analysis.
- Manage job costing work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and project profitability tracking.
- Monitor financial performance metrics and maintain target profit margins.
- Develop and manage cash flow planning and capital strategies to support company growth.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls and financial risk management processes.
- Partner with operational leaders to ensure project-level financial accountability.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies through financial analysis.
- Lead ERP implementation and optimize financial systems automation and reporting capabilities.
- Oversee payroll administration and performance-based compensation structures.
- Bachelors in Accounting Finance or related is required
- 7 years of accounting/finance experience
- 3 years commercial real estate construction accounting experience (including job costing WIP reporting etc.) ideally working for a General Contractor.
- 2 years of leadership experience
