About the Team
The Neuron team at WTW is responsible for building and operating Neuron WTWs digital trading platform designed to connect brokers and insurers seamlessly across the insurance marketplace. Neuron enables standardized structured data exchange improves speed to trade and reduces friction by integrating existing broker and carrier systems through APIs and a unified digital workflow. The team brings together data technology and insurance specialists to support digital transformation and modernize how insurance risks are traded globally.
Summary
As a Senior Technical Scrum Master you will be the backbone of our high-stakes engineering teams. You will integrate deep Agile expertise with a solid understanding of software architecture to streamline delivery. Your goal is to foster a culture of technical discipline (CI/CD TDD DevOps) while mentoring the team toward self-governance and peak performance.
Role
Technical Leadership & Engineering Flow
- Engineering Excellence: Partner with Tech Leads to advocate for and implement modern engineering practices.
- Bottleneck Identification: Use your technical background to identify systemic issues in the codebase or infrastructure that hinder velocity.
- DORA Metrics Management: Move beyond simple story points. Track and optimize DORA metrics.
Advanced Facilitation & Scaling
- Facilitation: Lead all Scrum ceremonies including Daily Stand-ups Sprint Planning Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives. Ensure they are productive and time boxed.
- Impediment Removal: Proactively identify and eliminate blockers (technical social or organizational) that prevent the team from meeting Sprint Goals.
- Team Coaching: Mentor the team in self-management and cross-functionality. Help them navigate internal conflicts and improve their Definition of Done.
- Product Owner Support: Assist the Product Owner with backlog refinement ensuring user stories are clear concise and prioritized.
- Complex Ceremony Leadership: Facilitate all Scrum events for multi-functional distributed teams ensuring high-quality outputs and clear alignment with the product roadmap.
- Cross-Team Synchronization: Lead or sync in a scaled environment to manage cross-team dependencies and mitigate risks before they impact delivery.
Strategic Coaching & Mentorship
- Servant Leadership: Coach developers Product Owners and stakeholders on the why behind Agile shifting the focus from doing Agile to being Agile.
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate complex technical disputes within the team ensuring architectural decisions are made collaboratively and transparently.
Requirements
- 10-15 years in the software industry with at least 5 years acting as a dedicated Scrum Master in a technical environment.
- A background as a Software Engineer or Systems Architect is highly preferred. You must be able to understand technical discussions regarding APIs Microservices and Cloud infrastructure.
- Certifications:
- Required: PSM II/III or CSM.
- Preferred: SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) PMP-ACP or an AWS/Azure Cloud Practitioner certification.
- Tools: Expert-level proficiency in Jira/Confluence (including advanced JQL and automation) Miro/Mural and familiarity with GitHub/GitLab workflows.
Responsibilities.
