JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Program Coordinator for the Clinical Workforce Development provides leadership and operational oversight for a multi-institutional undergraduate pre-medical workforce initiative jointly supported by the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) the UT Health Science Center College of Medicine- Knoxville (COM- Knoxville) and the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC). This initiative is designed to develop structured paid and credit-eligible clinical employment opportunities for undergraduate pre-medical students while establishing a longitudinal workforce pathway from early exposure through medical school. This role is responsible for the design implementation and management of undergraduate clinical workforce programs that integrate academic progression with hands-on clinical employment. The Program Coordinator independently oversees clinical job development workforce alignment stakeholder partnerships and grant deliverables ensuring sustainable workforce pipelines that address rural healthcare needs.
Responsibilities
- Leads the development and management of undergraduate clinical workforce programs that provide paid credit-eligible employment aligned with pre-medical education.
- Designs clinical job frameworks in collaboration with UT Medical Center and affiliated healthcare sites to meet workforce needs and educational objectives.
- Oversees recruitment placement onboarding and evaluation of undergraduate pre-medical students in clinical employment roles.
- Serves as the primary institutional lead coordinating UT- Knoxville UT Health Science Center College of Medicine- Knoxville UT Medical Center community colleges rural school systems and healthcare mentors.
- Leads cross-institutional planning and implementation efforts to ensure program alignment and scalability.
- Aligns academic clinical and employment requirements across UT-Knoxville UT Health Science Center College of Medicine- Knoxville and healthcare partners.
- Develops strategies to sustain and expand undergraduate clinical workforce programs beyond initial funding periods.
- Manages grant-supported program operations deliverables timelines and reporting.
- Ensures compliance with institutional policies clinical standards and funding requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of relevant experience; OR Associates Degree and three (3) years of experience; ORBachelors Degree and one (1) year of relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of research protocols.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly developed planning and organizing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience performing literature search and working with EndNote as well as RedCap Word Excel and PowerPoint.
- Intermediate level computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications for various electronic data capture programs.
WORK SCHEDULE:This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
