Epitaxy Process Engineer

Job Summary
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide sustaining engineering support for SiC epitaxial growth processes and related equipment
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues to improve yield quality and process stability
- Monitor and control processes using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis tools
- Analyze process data using JMP or similar statistical software to identify trends and drive improvements
- Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance uniformity defect reduction and efficiency
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Support and optimize epi reactors and post-epi characterization/metrology tools
- Manage multiple projects and priorities in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Train and support operators and technicians on process standards and best practices
- Ensure adherence to engineering procedures safety standards and cleanroom protocols
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in engineering/science with 5 plus years experience in a related field OR Masters degree in engineering/science with 3 plus years experience in a related field.
- Experience in epitaxy (SiC preferred) and/or semiconductor characterization
- Background in process engineering data analysis and process improvement
Technical Skills
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Proficiency with JMP Minitab or similar statistical tools
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
- Experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes and cleanroom environments
- Familiarity with databases and process data systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel PowerPoint Word)
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and support 24/7 manufacturing operations
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Due to ITAR compliance this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen Permanent Resident Alien or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
Working Conditions
- 100% on-site in a semiconductor manufacturing facility
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform hands-on work in a manufacturing and cleanroom environment
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods within the facility
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 40 lbs as needed
Safety Requirements
All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
