Asour Play in the Park Program Officer youll play a key rolein creating welcoming engaging and supportive experiences forchildren and families in a supported playgroup setting.
This role is about planning and running Play in the Parksessions at local and regional parks in the Great Southern. Play inthe Park is a well know service in Albany and is about funlearning and connection to community through activities forchildren under 4 and helping their parents to connect; This rolerequires someone who is interested in making a real difference inthe early years of childrens development while supporting parentsand carers to engage meaningfully with their little ones.

What youll be doing:
As our Playgroup Assistant/Program Officer youll be hands-onin creating a fun safe and welcoming environment for children andfamilies. Youll plan and run engaging playgroup activities at Playin the Park sessions while encouraging parents to join in androle model positive interactions with their children. Part of yourrole will include driving a small bus to locations setting up playstations for the sessions reading books at story timemaintaining playgroup equipment and ensuring the space isclean safe and stimulating in line with the Early Years LearningFramework . Youll also play an active role in keeping theenvironment hazard-free following YMCA WA health and safetypolicies and working closely with the Play at the ParkCoordinator. At the Y we encourage staff to take part inprofessional development and of course lend a hand with any otherduties needed to support our team and families.
Youll be great in this role if you
- Have current National Police Clearance and Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain
- Are confident to drive a small bus for long distances
- Hold an A class drivers license
- Have experience delivering engaging activities for families with young children
- Have background in program development and implementation
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Are confident with basic computer skills and record-keeping
- Have effective time management with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently
