Faculty Practice Plan Serviceshas an outstanding opportunity for aCODING SPECIALIST - SUPERVISOR.The position reports to the Manager of Coding and Charge Capture for Coding Specialties.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor productivity charge lag and volume using various system tools and reports. Identify and prevent backlogs and other impediment to charge capture. Monitor work on a daily basis to prospectively identify problems potential backlogs and takes the necessary steps to mitigate impact.
- Work closely with individual staff to ensure efficient and correct processing of charges. Assist staff in organizing work in-process so production levels consistently meet targets. Review quality and accuracy of work and provides feedback to staff and departments.
- Foster and maintain professional and effective relationships with UW Medicine and UW Medicine entity department leadership. Coordinate and communicate with all UWP departments regarding key issues.
- Attends internal and external meetings interacts with other managers to resolve problems and conducts regular staff meetings to ensure consistent communication of Coding department as well as UWP policies expectations and goals. Coordinates closely with other Revenue Cycle Departments as appropriate.
- Ensure staff properly equipped to carry out assigned duties; coordinates with both internal and external agents. Identify training needs and coordinating training resources. Conduct staff training.
- Develop document and implement procedures and suggests input for process improvement.
- Provide functional and technical expertise for staff and ensure that they understand and follow all established policies and procedures are appropriately deployed and held accountable for delivering outcomes.
- Responsible for all supervisory activities such as interviewing hiring training new employees performance monitoring progressive discipline termination writing and conducting employee performance evaluations conducting and participating in team meetings and coordinating coverage for open positions.
- Oversee and support staff training and quality by:
- Ensuring staff under direct supervision are trained in a timely manner. Providing back-up to the lead that is training the staff and covering as needed on the coder QAs.
- Managing and facilitating the release of staff to attend learning events.
- Providing constructive feedback regarding performance on a continuous basis.
- Evaluating staffs quality assurance audit results and work collaboratively with training department to identify and/or design instructional resources to improve performance.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for evaluation and management levels and/or procedural coding in multi-specialty areas.
- Function as a working supervisor who can work coding charge review WQs claim edit WQs and denial WQs when coverage is needed or volumes require additional intervention
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Certified Coding Specialist Physician Based (CCS-P) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder (CIRCC) Radiology Certified Coder (RCC) or Radiation Oncology Certified Coder (ROCC).
- Four years coding experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Two years lead or supervisory experience.
Equivalent education/experience may be considered.

UW Medicine includes Harborview Medical Center UW Medical Center - Montlake UW Neighborhood Clinics UW Medical Center - Northwest the UW School of Medicine Valley Medical Center and Airlift Northwest. UWP members also practice at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance a partnership of UW Medicine Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Seattle Childrens Hospital.
