The Department of Economic Security Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Buyer 3 for Business Operations. This position will assist with creating the centralized purchasing process and get buy in and approval from field staff as well as upper management.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Independently coordinate input track and receive commodities and on-contract items for DMBE Statewide and will be the first step in the Arizona Procurement Portal requisition process.
  • Monitor and record all purchases and prepare tracking spreadsheets and provide status updates on Purchase Orders and Receivers to upper management.
  • Effectively communicate with requestors from local offices on the status of their purchases and assist with identifying accurate accounting codes and inventory numbers.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Statewide procurement system Arizona Procurement Portal.
  • State government organization and reporting structure.
  • Microsoft Office products such as Office/Google Excel and Access.

Skills in:

  • Customer Service listening responding timely confirming satisfactory resolution.
  • Time management detail oriented and analyzing and establishing priorities and problem resolution.
  • Oral and written communication for effective interaction with all customers both internal and external.

Ability to:

  • Communicate and relate effectively with all DBME staff as well as external customers.
  • Work as a member of a team and independently.
  • Display sound judgment and work well under pressure.
Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Previous purchasing and/or contract management experience preferred.
  • Computer and Customer Service experience.
  • Previous purchasing and/or contract management experience preferred.

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
