We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Site Assistant to join a dedicated estates team in Northampton. In a town known for its historic market square and its modern role as a central logistics hub this school is looking for a proactive individual to ensure the campus remains a first-class learning environment. Whether its a minor repair or preparing the hall for a major event your work will be the foundation of the schools daily success.
Core Responsibilities
General Maintenance: Carrying out first-line repairs and maintenance tasks including basic plumbing carpentry painting and decorating to keep the school in peak condition.
Site Security: Assisting with the opening and closing of the school premises ensuring all buildings are secure alarms are set and any breaches are reported immediately.
Health & Safety Compliance: Conducting regular safety checks including fire alarm testing water temperature monitoring (Legionella prevention) and playground equipment inspections.
Porterage & Logistics: Setting up furniture for assemblies examinations and parents evenings as well as handling the delivery and distribution of heavy goods across the site.
Environmental Care: Ensuring the school grounds are tidy and safe including litter picking basic gardening and emergency gritting or snow clearance during winter months.

Candidate Profile
Experience: Proven experience in a caretaking site maintenance or a trade background (plumbing electrical or carpentry) is highly desirable.
Practical Skills: A Jack-of-all-trades ability to troubleshoot physical issues and use a variety of hand and power tools safely.
Reliability: A punctual and flexible approach to working hours including a willingness to support occasional evening or weekend school events.
Character: A friendly approachable manner with students and staff and the physical fitness required to navigate a large campus and handle heavy lifting.
