Job Description

The Development Officer under general supervision is responsible for identifying cultivating and soliciting and stewarding donors in support of the universitys athletic programs. This position builds supports and promotes awareness of the University while serving as a key liaison between the Office of Advancement and the Athletics Department. The Development Officer assists in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to engage supporters of Texas A&M UniversityTexarkana Athletics. Additionally this role supports the planning and coordination of various university and athletic events to enhance donor relationships and strengthen philanthropic support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies cultivates and solicits prospects for gifts to support athletics university programs and scholarships.
  • Assists with proper acknowledgement recognition and stewardship of donors and works in collaboration with the advancement team to prepare prospect research materials.
  • Develops and executes personalized solicitation strategies for alumni donors and fans to secure major principal and capital campaign gifts.
  • Partners with the Director of Athletics and coaches to engage prospects and cultivate athletic-related philanthropy
  • Participates in developing advancement materials and brochures.
  • Assist with the planning and preparation of events and meetings and attendance at events.
  • Develops and maintains an online giving program and social network initiative.
  • Works with the advancement team and various campus constituencies to assist with campus and athletic fundraising.
  • Maintains call reports and university gift processing in the Blackbaud Database System. Enter personal and confidential donor giving information and confidential biographical records into the database. Designs and runs regular reports from database as a tracking mechanism for Administration.
  • Maintains security of the database by discussing confidential information on the Blackbaud System only with licensed users.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of database & spreadsheet applications
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to work in an environment of constant demands and frequent interruptions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated fundraising experience
  • NCAA experience
  • Blackbaud or other fundraising database experience
  • Higher Education/Non-profit/Public Sector fundraising experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication donor management and strategic planning skills

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours and/or on weekends
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
