Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregons fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.
We are hiring for two full-time temporary positions located in Diamond Lake Oregon. Housing is available.
It is anticipated the duration for these positions is May 19 2026 through September 30 2026. (These are estimated dates. Length of season(s) may be shortened or extended depending on project needs funding or factors beyond the projects control).
What you will do:
As a Biological Science Assistant (Diamond Lake Seine) you will monitor both golden shiner and tui chub populations in Diamond Lake. Duties include:
Evaluate trout diets and movement
Conduct creel surveys
Conduct beach seining fyke-netting trap netting and cast netting surveys
Maintain and operate a panel trap at the outlet of Diamond Lake
Drive to and from sites using a state vehicle often towing state boats
Note: This position requires a Boater Education Card obtained through the Oregon State Marine Board within the first 30 days of appointment.

What we are looking for:
Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:
Survey experience
Experience identifying fish species
Experience collecting and recording field data
Experience operating powerboats
Anyone who has or are in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences.

The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%
