Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance and Housekeeping Supervisor the Summer Maintenance staff members will maintain a safe professional respectful and positive atmosphere for our members and guests. This position supports the work of the Y a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development healthy living and social responsibility.
The length of this position runs approximately 10 weeks from May through August from 11 am through 3 pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- This position primarily works in the skate center during the summer campers lunch hours
- Duties include but are not limited to window washing trash removal moving and cleaning tables ensuring the skate center floor is clean and free of debris and food cleanup including dumping unfinished food and milk.
- Records and reports all needed repairs and repairs as directed
- Ensures YMCA building and property are secure during shift and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and pass a pre-employment physical
- All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Six months or more related experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret instructions procedures manuals and other documents
- Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals as well as their safe and efficient uses.
- CPR/First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of the community social and economic segments of the community.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
- Must be able to work throughout the duration of the summer camp program
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Work will be performed indoors and outdoors and may require occasional travel
- Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to respond swiftly in an emergency situation.
- Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30ft
- Ability to work with paint cleaning equipment chemical compounds solvents cleaners and solutions in dry liquid powder spray and aerosol forms
- Sufficient strength agility and mobility to perform position functions
- Must be able to coordinate a variety of large and small tasks simultaneously
- Must be able to handle stress and tension in a positive manner
- Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust
- Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve but is not limited to the following activities: semi-reaching to full-reach overhead crouching kneeling shoveling carrying working in narrow and/or confining spaces that may be underground overhead or at ground level. Twisting of the waist shoulders and legs and lying on the stomach and/or back.
