Job Summary

Job Title: Financial Operations Specialist

Department: Finance

Reports To: Controller

Compensation: $50000

TRS Classification: Non-Classified

Summary:

The Financial Operations Specialist serves as a key professional within the Finance

Department providing coordination and oversight across multiple financial domains. This

position requires independent judgment a high level of accuracy and discretion in handling

financial data compliance matters and operational processes. The specialist ensures

alignment with state and federal reporting standards and supports strategic initiatives

critical to the organizations financial compliance and integrity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reports to the Controller.
  • Actively participate in the success of Epic Charter School.
  • Adhere to laws policies procedures and ethical standards of Epic Charter School.
  • Receives invoices from vendors and assigns them in accounting system.
  • Maintain contact with vendors regarding policy procedures and pertinent information.
  • Coordinate and assist Student Resources department with vendor and Learning Fund crossover questions and issues.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding all things vendor related.
  • Work with families/teachers/law enforcement on Vendor related inquiries.
  • Resolve questions from vendors regarding invoices balances and payments
  • Ensures Epic is compliant with applicable laws and regulations concerning outside vendors.
  • Manage asset inventory along with asset surplus reporting and work alongside other Epic departments to ensure policy is being met.
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • Perform any other duty as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No supervisory responsibilities for this role.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelors degree preferred. Previous data entry and customer service is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a professional and friendly attitude and be able to quickly develop a rapport with customers over the phone.
  • Ability to learn and navigate new software quickly.
  • Strong work ethic and self-starter able to effectively manage multiple priorities and adapt to change within a high-volume and fast-paced environment; Be highly self-motivated and have the ability to work independently. Strong attention to detail dependability and follow through.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows Google Tools and Internet savvy environments with the ability to manage multiple computer screens. Ability to learn and navigate new software quickly.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Have a good understanding of basic accounting
  • Have great communication skills especially good phone etiquette. Must possess a professional and friendly attitude and be able to quickly develop a rapport with customers over the phone. Excellent listening skills and the ability to ask probing questions understand concerns and overcome objections. Be able to handle stressful calls and callers

Language Skills

Ability to read analyze and interpret internal communications and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or requests for assistance from district-wide staff members. Ability to communicate effectively with students families and coworkers both verbally and in writing.

Mathematical Skills

Basic math and accounting skills required

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully an individual should have computer prociency in Microsoft Oce Google Suite and QuickBooks environments with the ability to manage multiple computer screens. Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.

Certificates Licenses Registrations

  • Current drivers license and valid car insurance

Other Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a state-mandated background check after a conditional offer of employment is made
  • Must have favorable employment references
