Senior Accountant

KBR has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join our APAC Corporate Finance team based in Brisbane. This role offers long-term career development and the chance to gain exposure to a diverse range of projects across the Australian and broader Asian KBR business.

We are seeking a switched-on professional with 5 years experience in a senior accounting role. With a strong technical accounting background and a solid understanding of accounting standards you will become an integral part of the finance team supporting the continued growth and success of KBR in the APAC region.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant you will play a critical role in providing high-quality accounting and financial support across the APAC business. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering a broad range of accounting services for the APAC business within KBR ensuring accuracy timeliness and compliance with internal policies and relevant accounting standards.

  • Building strong partnerships with key stakeholders and business leaders to support strategic and operational objectives providing value-added financial insight analysis and advisory support.

  • Supporting Leading month-end accounting processes including reconciliations journal entries issue identification and resolution labour and cost accounting analysis and assisting with the preparation of management and financial reports.

  • Supporting Joint Venture arrangements by preparing financial statements where required and providing oversight to ensure compliance with accounting policies procedures and governance requirements.

  • Assisting with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities including budgeting forecasting variance analysis and performance reporting.

  • Supporting external and internal audit processes by preparing documentation responding to audit queries and assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts as required.

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of and adherence to KBRs accounting compliance and internal control policies and contributing to the continuous improvement of finance processes and systems.

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role you will bring a strong technical foundation commercial mindset and a collaborative approach. Key requirements include:

  • A degree qualification in Accounting Finance or a related discipline.

  • Professional membership with CA or CPA (or progress toward completion).

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant accounting experience ideally within a medium to large corporate professional services or engineering/consulting environment.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge including a sound understanding of relevant accounting standards and statutory requirements.

  • High attention to detail strong analytical skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
