About the opportunity

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the design development and maintenance of reliable and scalable data pipelines in Databricks usingPySpark/ Spark SQL Delta Lake Auto Loader and Databricks Workflows to ingest transform and serve data for analytics and reporting.
  • Assistin analysing data challenges and implementing solutions that meet defined business and technical requirements.
  • Work closely with data analysts and other engineers to understand data needs and help deliver high-quality analytics-ready datasets.
  • Contribute to building andmaintainingdata models transformations and workflows within the Databricks environment following best practices for Delta Lake and structured data processing.
  • Helpmonitorand troubleshoot pipelinesidentifyingissues related to data quality pipeline failures and performance.
  • Support the management of data access structure and governance within UnityCatalog ensuring datasets are organised and handled appropriately.
  • Use Auto Loader and Databricks Workflows to help automate ingestion and orchestration processes across multiple data sources.
  • Apply data engineering best practices including testing documentation version control and peer review.
  • Collaborate with IT platform engineering and product teams to support the delivery of robust data solutions into production.
  • Ensure data is handled in line with security governance and compliance requirements.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders and team members to understand priorities share progress and support successful delivery.
  • Work effectively in an Agile software engineering environment using source control release processes automated testing and continuous integration / continuous deployment practices.

The right candidate is important to us and we are looking for someone who has the following skills/knowledge:

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science or related fields.
  • Experience designing architecturally robust solutions for complex software problems especially in data related areas.
  • Experience with rigorous software development practices usingstate-of-the-artpatterns and modern practices.
  • Experience communicating with different teams and stakeholders to align technical and business requirements.
  • Experience with software prototypingdevelopmentand testing.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines that include both batch and stream processing.
  • Experience with programming in PythonandSpark ( Spark SQL Spark Streaming etc).
  • Experience with data manipulation libraries (e.g. Pandas NumPy etc).
  • Experience with data querying and manipulation using SQL.
  • Knowledge of Databricks and related technologies (e.g. Delta Lake Delta Live Tables etc).
  • Knowledge of relational (e.g. SQL Server etc) and No-SQL (e.g. MongoDB etc) databases.
  • Familiarity with message queues and streaming services (e.g. Azure Event Hub Kafka etc).
  • Familiarity with Azure and other cloud-native technologies.
  • Ownership attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
