Werelooking foran operating room Surgical Technologistwith OR experience.Our Technologist are integral members of inter-professional teams in hospitals and clinics that are committed to outstanding patient care driven by their expertise compassion and operate at a higher level of practice.
- Assist Surgeons and nurses with patients equipment preparation aseptic technique and surgical procedures in the operating room.
- Observes patients for symptoms which may indicate a change in condition and reports to appropriate member of medical team for immediate action.
- Prepares tissue and other specimens for lab analysis.
- Maintains the inventory of sterile surgical supplies to ensure their immediate availability.
- Prepares the operating room for surgery by assembling routine supplies materials instruments and equipment; obtains special supplies indicated by physician.
- Follows procedures for pre and post-operative accounting of sharps sponges and instruments used in the surgical set up.
- Accountable for the care and handling of instruments and equipment.
- Maintains inventory of sterile surgical supplies to ensure immediate availability.
- Operates sterilization equipment for the proper sterilization of surgical instruments.
- Follows established sterilization policy and procedures.
- May assist with the completion of patient records and other required medical forms.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the principles of sterile technique and infection control; practices appropriate procedures to maintain a sterile environment.
- Appropriately cleans surgical instruments and equipment. Performs related responsibilities as required.
- Individuals are not yet able to float between specialties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Successful completion of a surgical technician training program or equivalent job training.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

JOIN OUR TEAM TODAY!At Emory University Hospital Midtown our Perioperative Surgical Department consist of 28 OR suites with 3 to 4 designated for cardiovascular cases. Our service lines include General GYN Urology Bariatrics Robotics Orthopedics Neurosurgery Podiatry ENT Skull Base OMFS Plastics and CVOR. We are staffed 365 day a year. There can be some late on call and/or holiday requirements as well as a rotation to cover overnight shifts and weekend shifts for those dedicated teams.There is an orientation period of8-12 weeks depending on experience.
