SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Handlesthe day-to-day operations of the Training department by performing thefollowing duties:

Reportsto: Training& Development Manager/Director of Training
Supervises: This position has no supervisory responsibilities
ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct employee orientation/training as needed.
- Lead instructor for Deckhand Orientation.
- Supervisesconduct of newly hired deckhands during orientation/training.
- Ensure all proper documentation is secured before training is executed.
- Envision/incorporate new training ideas and techniques as well as write new curriculum and tests.
- Workwith Manager/Director to develop more efficient/effective training.
- Collaborate with Crew Travel for Deckhand/Tankerman crew needs.
- Track Training Department budget expenditures and variances.
- Maintain administrative duties of the State Funded Grant and track all money spent.
- Set up any external training and assist with logistical support when needed.
- Maintaina good relationship with prospective/current employees department heads UnitedStates Coast Guard (USCG) vendors and auditors.
- Track current employees eligibility and ability for the next level of training.
- Overseeoverall cleanliness/maintenance needed at TEAM Center & reports toManager/Director.
- Composeall pay spreadsheets/trainee raises.
- Set up various departments meetings/zooms to present to all New Hire Orientations.
- Assistin training new department staff.
- Maintain customer approved tankerman list.
- Assist with input data for tracking of all employees in a training program.
- Process payroll for Deckhand Orientation.
- Maintain and oversee all uniform/boot orders for orientations.
- Coordinate with HR Department for all pre-employment paperwork.
- Inputall New Hire Orientation packets into company database.
- Reviewall original MMCs applications/physicals for Deckhands before submitting fortheir original license.
- Coordinate new employee orientations to include assisting Crew Travel as needed for all new hires.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to read write and speak clearly in the English language.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Three to five years related experience and/or training preferred.
- Marine Industry experience preferred.
- Master decking skills; Tankerman Ticket Preferred.
- Knowledge of office administration procedures.
- Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
- Attention to detail in composing typing and proofing materials establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Proficient spelling grammar and written communication skills.
- Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
- Must be able to perform all tasks that Deckhand and Tankermen are required to do. (See Deckhand and Tankerman job description.)
- Must be able to conduct Deckhand Orientation with hands on training.
- Must be able to attend training as necessary to perform job and increase knowledge.
- Proficiency in or knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite software.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
- Position requires ability to work nights and weekends and travel with orientation.
- Must be highly self-motivated and possess organizational skills.
- Must be comfortable or willing to learn to drive large passenger van and pull trailer.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Abilityto read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professionaljournals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports businesscorrespondence and procedure to effectively present information and respond to questions fromgroups of managers clients customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Abilityto apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions topractical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Abilityto define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions inmathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concretevariables.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Thisposition requires driving a vehicle as necessary for errands and business-relatedmeetings. Employee and/or applicant must successfully complete a Motor VehicleHistory check and possess and maintain a current valid drivers license intheir state of residence. Frequent travel is required every four to six weeksout of town stay.utside vendors and customers.
