Job Summary
seeking an experienced Project Estimator responsible for specification review and complete project estimate of Mechanical Specialties product in a pre-bid / proposal situation. They will provide total pricing information for use in the bid process prepare budgets complete equipment and labor take-offs of pre-bid design layouts and will be responsible to assist the Sales and Operations leaders in the estimate transfer for awarded projects. The Project Estimator will also provide specific costing information for transfer upon project award to the the Management team. This information will be used directly in submittal formulation and job costing.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Review incoming bids and customer work sheets based on workload selected.
- Complete the project specification review and request additional information as needed through the Product Sales Specialist from Architects General Contractors and Owners.
- Compile detailed project estimates based on the requirements of the project specifications in an organized and accurate manner for final review.
- Ability to utilize functions and formulas Microsoft Excel; 90% of your day will be working on spreadsheets.
- Interface with Engineers Project Managers Subcontractors and Vendors for equipment pricing and labor sources.
- Maintain a current and accurate database of equipment and labor pricing to include current catalog literature data sheets and equipment pricing sheets for the Sales Department.
- Create completed complete an accurate project estimate to the Sales Product Specialist for transfer to Project Management.
- Job may require bid preparation on weekends and after hours.
- Job may require some site visit travel.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed
Qualifications
- 3 years of combined experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Project estimating.
- Performing job cost analysis on mechanical or electrical projects.
- Electrical field experience.
- Mechanical field experience.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to produce accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting project specifications.
- Experience reviewing and performing take-offs of related environmental chamber scopes on project plans.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Knowledge of electrical systems.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems.
- Knowledge of duct layout and sizing.
- Electrical/mechanical experience as a Project Manager or in HVAC Service.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical clean room design is helpful but not required.
- Familiarity of chill water piping and components is helpful but not required.
- Must demonstrate intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook Project Word).
Work Environment
Work is office setting with routine site visits to field projects
