Job Summary
HealthPartners is hiring for a Clinical Support Technician at our Neuroscience Center in St. Paul. This position will be supporting several different departments including; Neurology Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) Pain and Neurosurgery .
This position will provide and/or support patient care by performing tasks and duties consistent with professional standards and HealthPartners policies and addition may function in supply aid and/or sterilization capacity by maintaining a safe work area and ensuring that it is adequately stocked cleaned and organized. Implement cleaning and sterilizing procedures to support infection control and OSHA standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education Experience or Equivalent Combination:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years customer service experience and/or healthcare experience
- Complete Medical Terminology and Pharmacology online courses within six months of hire
- Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
- Complete BLS course within 1 week of hire and maintained BLS certification in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA). No online only courses accepted.
- Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including appropriate use of English grammar and spelling
- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instruction work efficiently despite interruptions and maintain a courteous and cooperative manner
- Demonstrated ability to function with multiple priorities and interruptions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education Experience or Equivalent Combination:
- Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician program or currently registered as a pharmacy technician with one or more years pharmacy technician experience
or
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program and current Nursing Assistant Certification
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- (20-50%)Perform functions that support / provide patient care.
- Patients are roomed according to rooming process standards
- Vital signs and other pertinent physical measurements are obtained and recorded accurately.
- Expanded medication history is collected updated and documented to ensure quality and accuracy of medication list (according to authorized policy and demonstrating proficiency).
- Exam rooms and treatment rooms are prepared for examination of the patient and set up for procedures.
- Chart prep is completed for patient appointments as indicated by the type of clinic visit and the reason for the appointment
- Messages and test results are accurately received and relayed to the appropriate person/location in a manner consistent with clinic practices and/or standards.
- Gathers all necessary and appropriate information from a caller and relays information to the appropriate provider for necessary follow-up.
- Patient correspondence performed when requested.
- Patients are assisted in completing forms when appropriate.
- (10-20%) Maintain equipment and keep adequate records
- An inventory of instruments and equipment is kept current.
- Instruments and equipment are calibrated as needed and maintained in proper working order. All maintenance is documented
- (10-20%) Maintaining clinic supplies and ensure they are adequately stocked and well organized.
- Stock supply cabinets and rooms and organizes items as needed.
- Outdated supplies are removed and disposed of following department procedures.
- (10-20%) Performs cleaning and sterilizing procedures to support infection control and OSHA standards.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to procedure.
- Complete scheduled cleaning requirements for the designated work areas.
- Document completion of work to comply with infection control and OSHA standards.
- (20-50%) Documentation
- Accurately document patient care and education materials timely and completely in the EHR (electronic health record).
- (5-10%) Mentor new colleagues and students (if trained and working in this role)
- Demonstrate ability to identify the orientees learning needs and plan appropriate learning experiences
- Demonstrate ability to implement an individualized orientation plan for the orientee
- Demonstrate ability to validate clinical competence of orientee
- Facilitate development of organizational and prioritization skills of orientee
- Serve as a professional role model
- Provide feedback and educational opportunities in partnership with leader and/or educator
- (5-10%) Other duties as assigned
