As a E&E (electronics and electrical) Supplier Development Engineer you will provide technical expertise and leadership to Product Sourcing Teams for evaluation and development of new and existing suppliers in AP region while maximizing Quality Cost Logistics Delivery and Management at the supply base.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
* Lead the project development with supplier through APQP process and activities collaborated with design team and product groups to timely develop the supplier and product with approved PPAP in place. E&E products including but not limited to Starter Alternator Camera Display Radio Battery Alarm Sensor ECM etc.
* Work with suppliers to assure proper process control standards are in place and continuously monitor key manufacturing processes for improvement opportunities
* Ensure suppliers have adequate people training tooling fixturing and equipment to meet customers production demands
* Monitor suppliers adherence to Process/Engineering Change Notification on a timely and cost effective basis as well as to develop the supply base to fulfill the total requirements from Caterpillar System implementation
* Evaluate and develop new suppliers technological capability to meet requirements for Caterpillar Inc. Supplier Excellence Award program
* Provide resolution and ensure implementation of robust solutions for quality problems associated with the process purchased materials (specially chips in recent semiconductor supplying risk) logistics and engineering issues
* Provide resolution and lead the quality performance improvement in managed suppliers
* Provide resolution and lead the VA/VE activities to support suppliers cost improvements
* Support and participate in 6 Sigma initiatives with facilities category teams and suppliers
* Support and participate the market research with category buyer to provide the qualified supply base
* Lead suppliers production capacity investigation and provide the resolution to meet customers demands in long term to mitigate assurance of supply risk
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree or equivalent experience preferably in E&E (electronics and electrical) or Mechanical engineering
* 5 quality tools MSA SPC FMEA APQP and PPAP knowledge required
* An engineering or manufacturing or quality background plus familiarity with E&E manufacturing processes.
* Good human relation/communication skills as well as possess the potential for leadership is required to develop a cooperative working relationship with others inside and outside of Caterpillar
* Travel 1week/Month average. Night meeting occasionally to align with global team.
* Solid ability to use and demonstrate comprehensive statistical and problem-solving tools like 8D A3 report.
* Good and fluent English on write read listen and speak. CE-4 or equivalent
Desired Qualifications:
* 3 5 years of SDE/SQE job experience
* Knowledge of the tools and techniques of 6 Sigma methodology
* Quality engineering certification
* PMP
* CE-6 or equivalent
Additional Information:
The position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
